After Endodontic Treatment
Your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may be slightly tender for several days as a result of manipulation during treatment and previous condition of your tooth. This tenderness is normal and is no cause for alarm. Do not chew food on the affected side until your endodontic therapy is completed and your tooth is covered with a protective restoration provided by your restorative dentist. You may continue your regular dental hygiene regimen. Discomfort may be alleviated by taking ibuprofen (Advil), aspirin, or acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed.
NOTE: Alcohol intake is not advised while taking any of these medications. Should you experience discomfort that cannot be controlled with the above listed medications, or should swelling develop, please contact this office immediately.
Our office telephone system is available 24 hours a day and includes text messaging capabilities for patient convenience. During regular business hours, our team responds as promptly as possible to all patient communications.
Outside of normal business hours, calls and messages are monitored directly by our team, including Dr. Allore, to address urgent and emergent patient concerns. As we do not utilize a dedicated after-hours call center, immediate live response may not always be available; however, messages are reviewed and returned as promptly as circumstances allow.
If contacting the office after hours regarding pain, swelling, medication concerns, or another urgent issue, please have your pharmacy information readily available to assist with timely coordination of care.
For medical emergencies, severe swelling affecting breathing or swallowing, or other life-threatening conditions, call 911 or seek immediate emergency medical attention.
